Don’t become distracted
And you can very quickly and easily become bogged down in paperwork, find yourself taking a trip down memory lane, or find that one item which you’ve been looking for, for ages. Warning: this is very dangerous, and can be hazardous to your decluttering process. Items that can make this a very real possibility include paperwork, and just about everything else in the room! Everything you can see in the room is a potential distracter. You will have to do the unthinkable, you will have to be cold and unfeeling towards these inanimate objects which are even now cluttering up your house. The minute you allow yourself to become distracted you will find that your decluttering time has flown out the window and that you are still in the exact same position that you were in one hour ago. This is not good for decluttering anything. You will then also find yourself unwilling to take on the task again because something else has come along to take you away which makes decluttering seem like a chore. It is a chore, but you don’t need to admit it out loud. This will make it seem worse than it really is! |
